Chaidh mise agus Alix gu deasbad ann an Steòrnabhagh airson sgoiltean ann an Alba le Gàidhlig. Rinn sinn tòrr ullachadh airson an dà deasbad a rinn sinn; ‘Tha cus airgead pobalch air a chosg air na h-ealain’ agus ‘tha na dh’ionnsaicheas tu air taobh a-muigh na sgoile nas feumail na dh’ionnsaicheas tu anns an rùm sgoile’. Chaidh sinn ann air pleana air Dimairt is thill sinn air Diardaoin, ach bha tòrr ullachadh againn ri dhèanamh air a shon le bhith a’ rannsachadh, a’ sgrìobhadh oraidean agus a’ sgrìobhadh ceistean. Fhuair 4 sgioba a-steach dhan iar-chuairt dheireannach ann an Dùn-Èideann is an uair sin gheibh dà sgioba a-steach dhan cuirt deireannach. Bha tòrr spòrs agam fhìn is aig Alix is tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart ri bhith a’ dol gu Dùn-Èideann ann an seachdainn neo dhà air sgàth ’s gun d’fhuair sinn na comharaichean as àirde a-mach as an deasbad air fad. A bharrachd air seo, chaidh sgioba eile bhon IRA ann ach ged a rinn iad math, cha d’fhuair iad troimhe gu Dùn-Èideann.
Eilidh and I went to a Gaelic debate from Tuesday the 8th of November to the 9th, it was in Stornoway so we travelled by plane. We took part in two debates the first one was that ‘there is too much public money going towards the arts’ and we were supporting the motion and the second one was that ‘we learn more outside school than we do inside school’ and we were opposing the motion. Four teams got through to the semi-finals and as we had the highest points we got through. There was another team from the IRA but unfortunately they didn’t get through. It was a great experience.
